About the Artist
Bio
Hi, I'm Katey Jo, a filmmaker, animator, and visual artist living in Chicago, Illinois. I recently graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with an MFA in Film, Video, New Media, and Animation. In my undergrad, I majored in Screenwriting and Producing at Ohio University.
I began my artistic endeavors by writing screenplays and working as a production designer on set. I have also had the rewarding experience of working with the Athens International Film and Video Festival, where I enjoyed working with the wider film community.
Over the past three years, I worked with undergraduate screenwriting students in their beginning screenwriting class. Reading scripts and guiding narratives was a pleasure that helped guide my screenwriting practice.
Recently, I have dedicated my practice to different forms of animation, primarily focusing on stop-motion puppet animation. During this time, I had the honor of being a teaching assistant in a beginning screenwriting course. While dabbling in 2D and 3D computer animation, an area I hope to explore more.
My current goal is to grow as an artist, learn new skills, and apply my talents in the film industry.
